Lori Ann Levy-Holm, born on Long Island, NY in 1960 and educated in
Pennsylvania, Italy, and England, currently lives and works in
Valencia, California. After completing a BS in Art Education, which
included a year in Rome studying clay sculpture under Paolo Carsone at
Tyler School of Art, she spent two years in the states apprenticing to
sculpture and production potter David Davis. The following year she
moved to England to serve another apprenticeship at Rooke’s Pottery in
Ipstones and worked as a demonstrator potter at the Gladstone Pottery
Museum in Longton. An independent study with Derrek Emms at the
Stoke-on-Trent Polytechnic supplemented the industrial skills she
acquired at the living museum. After returning to the US, Lori Ann
maintained a studio and exhibited on the east coast, primarily clay
paintings and functional ware in galleries and through the League of
New Hampshire Craftsmen as a juried member. Lori Ann returned to her
original passion of drawing and painting after the birth of her second
child in 1993. She continues to work in various mediums and her
paintings currently posses a third dimension, as they are reminiscent
of dioramas or shadow boxes.
